Vine, a social moving-picture application for iOS, announced that they were purchased by Twitter today. Vine allows you to shoot a series of video clips that create a looping, non-1990′s version of an animated gif. This is a great way to tell a story.

To give you an example, you can see my first Vine here: http://vine.co/v/b5dmX66JVIh

You cannot use the camera on the front of the iPhone to record – at least for now.

I can see expectant parents capturing brief moments while welcoming their first child into the world, or some before/after clips of a home project.

For businesses, it expands the opportunity to provide a behind-the-scenes look into what you do. Have big news to announce? Give your customers a few visual hints beforehand.

Chris Brogan also has a few ideas for businesses here.

How else do you see individuals and businesses using Vine?
